Trainer Qualifications

SARtacs believes that to fully engage a student group, as well as bringing appropriate experience to the event, a Trainer requires two levels of expertise. Firstly, for the Trainer to be able to empathise with students and their roles, a meaningful experience in SAR operations where the Trainer’s own knowledge and skills were developed to a high level is essential. Secondly, the Trainer must be able to demonstrate the appropriate level of experience and/or qualification in adult learning.

All Trainers used or recommended by SARtacs will therefore have studied to the UK standard for adult trainers, the Certificate of Training Practice (CTP) or have consistently demonstrated equivalent skills in a training environment. In addition they will have worked for a significant amount of time in operations in their particular field of expertise, whether as SAR Officer, SAR Mission Co-ordinator, Middle or Senior Manager or Trainer.
