About Us
SARtacs is an Emergency Response and Search and Rescue training and consultancy business headed by Tim Parker, and based in the UK.
Tim has 22 years experience in the search and rescue field, working with the UK Coastguard, and latterly as a Business Development Manager with BMT Cordah Ltd. He has experienced SAR operations by working as a SAR Mission Co-ordinator (SMC), and later was promoted to Training and Development Consultant at the UK Coastguard Training Centre. During his time in SAR Training, Tim researched and designed the World’s first Global Maritime Distress and Safety System (GMDSS), Coast Station Operators Course (CSOC). This has since been recognised by the Association of Marine and Electronic Radio Colleges (AMERC) as the UK national training standard for coast station radio communications training. He also trained SAR Mission Co-ordinator (SMC) qualifying courses and Search Planning (SP) courses. Tim was also involved as Coastguard Radio Communications Chief Examiner and an examiner in written and oral tests for new recruits and those seeking promotion to the role of SMC.

Remaining current
It is important that SARtacs continues to learn and to remain current in SAR procedures and the availability of equipment systems across the globe. This is an essential ingredient to maintain the quality of services offered to the Global SAR family, and Tim achieves this by visiting and working with SAR organisations as well as visiting SAR conferences, exhibitions and shows and networking with individuals and companies around the world.
